BEHIND THE SCENES
We're building AUCA in public: what we've created, what we're still figuring out, and what comes next. Not every milestone is a finished program—and we'll tell you the difference.
Last editorial update: October 27, 2026. Statuses describe activities, not measured impact or percent complete.

Form A is being prepared to collect community observations responsibly. Privacy, access, retention, and evidence-handling decisions must be approved before public launch.
Not accepting incident reports through Form A yet. AUCA is not an emergency reporting or dispatch service.
UPCOMING
Planning a November 17, 2026, community education event to bring residents and wildlife guidance together. Details may change as arrangements are finalized.

Reviewing publicly available information and identifying questions that deserve careful investigation. Research gaps are not proof of a particular cause or trend.
How research fits in →FIELD NOTES · BUILDING AUCA
People bring different experiences to coyote encounters: concern for pets, concern for wildlife, and frustration about where to turn. We believe people should not have to choose between caring about wildlife and feeling safe. That's why our first public resources focus on prevention, practical options, and clear referrals.
Founding perspective · October 2026
It's easy to ask people to submit a sighting. It's harder—and more important—to decide what information is necessary, who may see it, how photos are protected, and what the reports can actually establish. We're working through those questions before opening Form A.
Behind the scenes · October 2026
One encounter can matter greatly to the person who experienced it. But a single account doesn't tell us how common something is statewide or what caused it. We want to listen carefully without turning anecdotes into statistics.
Research principle · October 2026
We'll add dated updates when there's meaningful progress to share—not simply to make the tracker look busy.
RESEARCH & DATA
Wildlife encounters raise questions. Are concerns recurring in particular settings? Which information is missing? What can communities and agencies learn from credible evidence?
AUCA focuses on prevention, practical resources, public education, community participation, and respectful dialogue.
Wild Data is a separate, independent wildlife research initiative focused on gathering and evaluating evidence, identifying information gaps, and examining questions relevant to wildlife and community safety. It is not an AUCA-owned program.
We distinguish verified evidence, community observations, preliminary leads, and unanswered questions. We do not treat a report as proof of prevalence, causation, illegal conduct, or agency failure.
AUCA and Wild Data have complementary interests but separate responsibilities. Public submissions to AUCA will not automatically become Wild Data research records. Any future sharing must follow approved privacy, permission, and review procedures.
A public data dashboard is a future possibility, not a live feature. We will only publish appropriately reviewed, non-sensitive findings when there is something meaningful to show.
We welcome neighbors who want to learn, ask thoughtful questions, share resource ideas, or help strengthen community education. Participation is voluntary and does not require agreeing on every wildlife issue.
