ABOUT AUCA
People should not have to choose between caring about wildlife and feeling safe in their own communities.
The Arizona Urban Coyote Alliance works to reduce harmful human-wildlife conflict and create safer, healthier communities for people, companion animals, service animals, and wildlife.
We advance practical, evidence-informed solutions through public education, community engagement, accessible resources, better reporting, research-informed advocacy, and collaboration with residents, professionals, organizations, and public agencies.
We welcome different experiences and perspectives while working toward a shared goal: preventing conflict before it becomes crisis and helping Arizona communities live more safely alongside wildlife.
OUR STORY
AUCA grew from a simple concern: residents deserve to feel safe, and wildlife deserves thoughtful, humane treatment. Conversations about coyotes can quickly become polarized. We wanted to make room for people who disagree about solutions but share an interest in preventing harm.
Building a grassroots initiative is a learning process. It involves listening, revising plans, asking for help, and working through unexpected challenges. We are committed to sharing meaningful progress without turning private conversations or individual disagreements into public stories.
Our work is still developing. We are starting with accessible education, practical safety resources, community connections, and responsible approaches to evidence.
COMMUNITY PRINCIPLE
AUCA welcomes people who come to wildlife issues from different experiences — whether their primary concern is family and pet safety, wildlife conservation, community well-being, research, or public policy.
We believe better solutions come from respectful dialogue, credible evidence, and a willingness to listen to the people directly affected.
